History

At the Oudebildtdijk in Sint Jacobiparochie in the north of Holland two companies have their seat, MSE-Forks and Meijer Plaatbewerking. Both companies are stemmed from the same family company but have developed themselves into two independent companies with their own characteristics, activities, markets and management.

Meijer started as a one-man-business in 1921. Like many companies in that time, the company was focused on the local agriculture. As a result the company developed into a contracting firm and a bulldozer rental company, which carried out repairs and developed and constructed new machines and machine parts. In1980 all bulldozer activities were ceased but the development and construction of special machines continued to be an important activity of Meijer. They proved themselves by developing surprising and effective solutions for complicated technical problems. The knowledge and experience that was gained with this activities, was also of big importance in the development of its present performances.

Meanwhile, metal sheeting was the main activity of the company and under the name “Meijer Plaatbewerking” the company is active for many years now. Meijer distinguishes itself by the effort of creativity and technical knowhow. Besides that, the company also owns a very modern machine park. This in combination with a very reliable organisation and reliable logistic processes determines the success of Meijer Plaatbewerking.

The source of MSE-Forks lays in the patented telescopic forks that were introduced in 1980. These telescopic forks were developed in cooperation with a local company called KOOI BV, which at present-day is named Moffett. In November 2000 MSE-Forks took over the sales- and marketing of KOOI BV. Also the brand name KOOI-REACHFORKS® was taken over by MSE-Forks because of its good and well known reputation in the world of logistics. MSE-Forks delivers their telescopic forks under different labels without any relation to all kinds of branches in the material handling industry.

Since the patent many telescopic forks are renewed and improved. For some renewed telescopic forks new patents are given to MSE-Forks. In the course of time other products have been added to the assortment of MSE-Forks like mast extensions. All products are being sold through a network of importers and dealers around the world.

Since 2003 MSE-Forks serves the market with a whole new product, the RollerForks®. These RollerForks are developed and patented by MSE-Forks. For the introduction of this product MSE-Forks received the Dutch Logistica Award 2003 and the MetalUnion Innovation Award. This gave the product national recognition as the best innovative product of 2003. Besides the creativity of the product, the economic importance and the cost effectiveness of the product were decisive motives for the recognition of the Award. The RollerForks characterize themselves by the simplicity and effectiveness by which the use of pallets and push-pull systems is superfluous.
